hi I am in desperate need of help...

How can I restore a data set if the first sequence is damaged and can't be used? Is there a way to bypass the 1st tape since the data that I need resides on another tape in the set anyway?

Any info would be much appreciated...thank you so much

Sincerely
SF

The catalog files are stored on each individual set. Just merge the tape you want and try to restore by tree or something. If this doesn't work, do a restore by backup media and make sure you add your query string so that you can search for the file/files you want. Play around with filters with this too if necessary.
