We have some problems on the peoplesoft enterprise planning run related to solver time and outputs.
1. The pls1500 job takes 24 hours and it creates a command file which is around 740Meg in size.
2. Once the command file it created, we load the file into redpepper, and this is taking almost 48 hours. The bulk of the time is here:
Load Items - takes about 2.5 hours (we have approx 45000sku's X 3 DC's)
Load Inventory Forecast - takes about 36 hours to load this from the command file.
3. The next step is to run a straight MRP, which is taking another 40 hours
4. Finally, we run optimization on the MRP with scorecards, which takes another 6 hours
The end to end process is approximately 120 hours (around 5 days)
Questions:
1. Why is it taking 48 hrs to load a 740 meg file ? What is it doing in the inventory forecast load ? Any chance of finetuning the box ?
2. Why is straight MRP taking 48 hours ? we have a 550MHz 16 gig ram unix box
If we can solve 1 and 2, we can potentially get this down to a 2 day process - end to end.
Any help/suggestions/comments will be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks
