Help replacing video card

Dell dimension 3000 desktop, having problems with integrated video card. Can I install video card in pci slot. how do I turn off integrated card in bios and get computer to recognize new card. Finally any suggestions on which type of card to purchase.

Ordinarily, entering the BIOS (F1 or F2?) enables you to choose which card to output to.

Some (older?) motherboards needed to use RAM from the #1 slot to power the graphics, removing the RAM stick from the slot disabled the onboard. I don't know if this is the case with your machine.
