Help Trying to replace a floppy drive in a HP 64702 for a friend. The floppy is bad and I secured a replacement. The one I secured is a Sony and after removing the original I find it to be Mitsumi Model D359M3. The sony just will not fit as the button for release will not fit thru the hole in the front plastic case window dressing of the HP drive cage Has anyone ran into this problem.
I can't just change buttons as they are made different. Has anyone modified the Drive Cage cover (Plastic front) to allow the square button to fit thru the oval hole of the HP? Or do I have to find another FD, maybe a Mitsumi?
Please respond to cmiller741@yahoo.com

Buy a new drive.....thats a lot of work for something so easily obtained....go to your local pc shop, maybe they have a spare they will give you....never hurts to ask...I have scored some older components like that for free....
or even better....buy OEM.

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.

One of these might work. Have you tried cleaning the old one. I just fixed a Mitsumi on a Pavilion and it was full of dust. I took it apart and blew it out with compressed air. There is also an update for the floppy disk controller driver on some of these Pavilions. You might check the HP site.
