help regarding link utilization

can any one tell me what is "link utilization" and how it can be determined in a network. What are the various factors taken into consideration.

to show the link speed and number of users connected to the server.

Hi,

If you want to measure the traffic from server to clients,
you may consider a program called mrtg( or rrdtool )

It uses snmp to measure traffic from the client (or its hub/switch) and graph it over time.
