HELP QUICKTIME MAKES POPPING NOISE!

I am running a quicktime movie from director. Occasionally the sound makes an irritating popping noise. I have had this problem before and I upgraded to quicktime 5 and it seemed to be fixed, for some reason it has come back. the weirdest thing is it only happens sometimes, and only on some machines.

I'm not sure if this helps, but...

I had the same popping noise on my first project. I was using .wav files, not quicktime. Anyway, I changed the sound device from Direct Sound to MacroMix and it solved the problem. I hope this helps.
