i have already designed a from that creates a report on the click of a button. I want to be able to export this information directly to a word document from the report, and i would like this to occur in the back ground.

any help or suggestions on the vba code is highly appreciated

Try this -

Instead of your DoCmd.OpenReport command, use:

DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, strDocName, acFormatRTF, strFileName

where strDocName is the name of the report and strFileName is the name of the new RTF document.
