I need to reset all configurations settings and image settings for an extreme networks summit x450e-48p to factory defaults(or at least I think I do)...

Currently the switch sits at the (pending-AAA) prompt which I believe is because it was stacked with another switch before (I am new to Extreme Networks, your patience in this matter would be appreciated). I have read many places to hold down the space bare to get into the bootrom prompt but when I do this I do not get any menu that even closely resembles what they mention. However i can boot into another image (command boot 2) and it acts as if it were a new switch and I can continue to log in with default setting and so on but upon reboot it takes image 1 again (Which i think it is suppose to do) and I am sitting back at the (pending-AAA) prompt. I believe I need to somehow reset image 1 to its factory defaults.

Does anyone have insight on this subject?

FYI

the menu I do get when I hold down the space bar is this

BootRom > h
boot boot an image
loader Sets which BootLoader BootStrap will boot
reboot Reboot system (hard reset)
show display information
config select configuration
enable enable features
h on-line help
help on-line help
? on-line help
hi display command history
dir list contents of CF directory
cd change working CF directory
pwd print working CF directory
ping ping remote host
configip configure the bootloader ip address
showip show the configuration of the bootloader ip address
download download an image

Nevermind Solved the issue myself....

Another example is the case where you dismantle a stack before using the unconfigure stacking or
unconfigure switch all command. In this case, individual Summit switches are configured for
stacking, not master-capable, and are isolated from a stack master.
In this situation, the only security information available is the failsafe account. If you know the failsafe
user name and password, you can log into any node and reconfigure master-capability or redundancy.
However, if you do not know the failsafe account information, there is another way you can change the
configuration.
At the login prompt, enter the following special login ID exactly as displayed here (all uppercase letters)
and press Enter:
REBOOT AS MASTER-CAPABLE
The following message appears:
Node reboot initiated with master-capability turned on.
This node then sets an internal indicator that is preserved across the reboot. While restarting, the node
notices and resets this indicator, ignores the node master-capability configuration, and becomes a
master node.

dtweten,

Don't be afraid to ask questions in this forum, especially when/if you are new to Extreme Networks. I am very familiar with Extreme Networks stacking so if you have any questions no matter how simple you think they might be just post them. It helps everyone.

I try to check the forum every few days. There are plenty of experienced Extreme users monitoring this.

I've been working on Extreme products for over 7 years. So this is good place to get some help if you need it.

I was going to suggest Boot Master Capable. Glad you figured it out on your own already.

Curious as to why you broke up the stack?

I am glad to hear that this will be a good place to get help with the Extreme Networks switches. We only have two of them summit x450e-48p are what I think they are. We want to break them up because we need the extra POE ports in different closets for IP phones. This next question is completely off subject but I figured I would just through it at you quick. I configure the tacacs server for authentication but after configuring it on the switch I am still unable to authenticate. When I when to the server and looked at the log it does not show any entries for my attempts. So when I went to another switch on a different subnet I was unable to ping the x450e from there. The only thing I can think of is that I didnt configure a gateway for the switch to use. I am completely new to these switches and find myself getting con fussed between commands for Cisco and EN. Can you please tell me if my guess is correct and how do I configure the gateway address?

Figured it out. Just needed to run "config iproute add default"
