Hi,

We have two separate hunt groups, 8 incoming lines on a R7 processor 1 400 module and 9 different extensions. The tech came out to setup our phone system a few months ago and everything was working fine. Well so it seemed. But just a week ago we noticed there was a problem. He set it up so that one hunt group has only two incoming lines ringing and my phone (extension 10) has the other 6 incoming lines. We specifically did not want any of those 6 lines to ring at the other extension(hunt group) They sent us instructions to remove the lines from that extension and it fixed it (so we thought) But now the call is ringing through the intercom at that extension. We also noticed that the line stopped ringing at another of the extensions and now he just gets an intercom page when a line is ringing.

Please let me know if I am making any sense? I just want to avoid another service call from the tech guys as it gets expensive.

the easiest fix would be if you have an extension that is setup correctly (if there is one) and then just copy the settings over to the extension in question. If you don't have a good extension to copy from then the question is "How do those calls get to that extension" do they press something in the Auto Attendant and it gets transferred to group (which group with what dialed hunt group or calling group?) or do people dial the extension number?

Let's just say we receive a call from line 1 and I answer because I am the receptionist/operator phone ex.10 then it also rings at that extension. The odd thing is that another extension stopped ringing all together and now only gets a loud beep when there is an incoming call on lines 1-6. This is very confusing.

not enough information
does the Auto Attendant pick up the calls or are they ringing in directly to the phones?
seeing that one phone has just a short ring it points to the Auto Attendant, what do you hear when you call in?
try dialing intercom 71 or 72 , 73 or 74 that would call the calling groups 1 to 4 and see if any of these calls ring the exact same phones that the incoming calls are ringing, if so the we can unassign the phone that is not supposed to ring from those groups

On the phone that has the loud beep on incoming calls, sounds like it's forwarded to another ext, try to unforward and then see what happens!

Guys,

Thank a bunch allisland you were right one of the guys had his calls fwded to another extension but we couldn't tell which because he didn't have a display phone. I went and fwd'ed/unfwd'ed everyone's phones to their own extension.

a star for you

you deserve one for that it didn't even dawn on me that it could be as simple as a forwarded extension, must be Monday and the brain is still in weekend mode.
