Help on SMS_DEF.MOF file

I am trying to pull info from the registry where the string value is a .exe. When the mof compiles it sees the .exe as a syntax error because of the period. Is there a way to get around this problem? Another question, while pulling the dword value from the registry works okay, I am having problems trying to pull a binary value. I get the column in inventory but just get ??? for the data. Any infor would be very helpful.
