help on interbase database

I start working on this database (interbase database) today; I am quite new for the database

my question is if any body knows how to find a column in interbase database using a query

and how to backup a database with shrink option; basically the equivalent of

backup database adventureworks
to disk = 'c:\backup.bak'
with compression
