o/s: sco unix release 3.2v4.21
SCSI controller: Adaptec 1542CF
ID: Hard Drive 0
first tape drive: QIC 1.2GB tape drive; ID 2
currently backup command for 1st tape b/u: tar cvfb /dev/rStp0 20. this has been working well.
problem: I installed a second tape drive: Sony SDT-9000 DDS tape drive; ID 1. I cannot get it work properly.
I can backup to tape using: tar cvf /dev/rStp1, but the system will also create huge file '/dev/rStp1' on the hard drive which is equal to the total data size that was backup to the tape.
can i install 2 tape b/u drives to the system?
I need helps to install this second tape drive 'Sony SDT-9000 DDS tape drive' (ID 1) onto the same system.

Did you do a mkdev tape after physically installing the tape drive? Annihilannic.
