Somehow, and I've no idea how, something has happened with my "HELP" from VFP.

For weeks now, all has worked fine, but then last night I did help on HELP <some fuction> and the help screen came up with my search item, and nothing below it. I tried some simple known things like HELP STR() and still, nothing... I entered SET HELP TO at command line, but that changed nothing as well, and SET HELP TO ? just did nothing.

I think it's gotten "disassociated" somehow. Any idea how to get my Help back?! My books are all in storage, so I have to rely only on the help file for now.

If the help file is on a network share some security fix ( disabling communication via InfoTech protocol prevents you seeing content.
You need your chm on a local drive, that's all there is to it.

This is due to a security fix, which prevents remote code execution through the InfoTech protocol.

In short this is some type of http/webserver protocol as a chm file can do more than just serve static html embedded in it. And that had the security flaw fixed by this. The KB article also describes how you might reenable the protocol for some application(s).

Bye, Olaf.

Well, I'm working on a stand-alone PC... not on a "network" and no servers involved. It was working fine and then "poof" gone... I thought more something I accidentally fat finger that turned it off... if the .chm is already on my local drive (and there is no reason it shouldn't be) then what do I do?

Well, feeling idiotic now... Just needed to SET HELP ON as tbleken mentioned.
Don't know how it got turned off, but I knew I was missing something but without the ability to search HELP I was lost!
Thanks.

For Help on Help, see Help. Reminds me of Asterix when he and Obelix were in Rome: "Where's the information desk"? "I don't know, ask at the Information desk"!

And if you don't have Internet, you can simply Google "How to connect to Internet".

LOL
Thanks very much.
And thanks for the laugh.
