Hi to all,
I am new here and in networking too.

I have like ~40 PC linked directly to an adsl modem, so there is no limitation on internet usage on any of this pc.

Yesterday I was asked if can put limitations (time limitation + download limitation) to a certain group of PC's. I found a solution by installing a soft to all pc but this too difficult to maintain.

So what I am asking is there any easier (hardware or software ) way of doing this without needing to go on all pc one by one.

If some has experience on network administrations plesas just write me a few tips (not specifically) so I can start reading more about those.

Thank You,
Namik

you can put a router in before the adsl modem and run traffic police or qos

thnx North323
I am going to buy a router then I will give a try.

A proxy server would also do what you need. If you're going down the router path, make sure you check it's feature list first. Not all routers offer decent traffic management, some don't have any at all.

You do not mention the Make and model of your 'DSL modem' which obviously is a router.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Thanks to all,
Well the proxy server is my best and cheapest solution.
A special thnx to Grenage
