Trying to get a long document finished ASAP and the numbering is screwed up. It is skipping a couple of page numbers. When I go into the footer, say on page 53 when it skipped 52, and select "continue from previous section" in the numbering options, it does nothing. I can't figure out how to change this. Please help!

Hi Dawn,

You've probably got one or more section breaks (possibly continuous section breaks) whose headers/footers are not formatted as 'continue from previous' between the start of the last page on which a number appears and the end of the next page.

Such section breaks can be difficult to find in 'Page Layout' view. Try switching to 'Draft' or 'Normal' view to see them.

I did figure out that the problem was with the section breaks, so you were right. Since the section breaks which weren't necessary in this document, I just changed them to page breaks and the problem was solved.

I tried to find "Normal" view under view menu and couldn't find it. Where is it hiding now.
Thanks!!!

Dawn

Hi Dawn,

Which version of Word are you using? 'Normal' view exists in Word 2003 & earlier. In Word 2007 & later, the same view is called 'Draft'.
