Greetings:

We are hitting our heads against the wall at this point.

The Analog Dispatch is a product by Vodavi. This product has been successfully integrated with the Norstar (according to the manufacturer) and has a default Norstar DR5 program system setup.

Our problem:

Station to station the # sign is not enabled or cuts off thereby not allowing the communication between the voice mail and telephone system so we are unable to access individual mailboxs.

Upon calling into the system the automated attendant answers and will transfer calls and recognize the # and * and allow access to individual mailboxs.

After 4 rings the system recalls back to the voice mail unit and plays the automated attendant greeting instead of going to the proper mailbox to record a message.

Message notification works, transfers work but system will not hear touch tones upon recall back to voice mail or upon station to station (phone to analog port attached to voice mail)

The system programming and hardware:

We are utilizing 3 analog adapters which are connected directly to the analog voice mail. The stations are programmed in a hunt group.

More info:

We are at our wits end. Please help if you can.

First of all, are you sure you have a system with DR5 software? You may also want to go into admin programming and make sure your DN`s that have mailboxes are set Forward no Answer to go to your voicemail`s DN. I`m not familiar with Vodavi and whether it has these options, but with some other 3rd party voicemails, the type of transfer you have set, blind/supervised can sometimes make a difference.

Norstar stations to station calls do not have DTMF tones passed (digital sets)

Norstar does not pass station call data on the analog sets(the data that a voice mail needs)

What it looks like you need to do is get a Norstar Voice Mail interface. this connects to a digital ports and makes the norstar interface to non-norstar voice mails as if it were a norstar voice mail. and it will give you ten feature codes for voice mail transfer, access voice mail, etc.

up to 10 vmi's can be chained together to interface vmail to norstar. This equipment has interface tables to translate the feature codes that norstar uses to the dtmf sequence that the Voice mails use.
