My Virutal WinNT 4.0 server will not connect to the outside world.

Running WinNT 4.0 server in VMWare server on a Windows 2003 host on a Dell 2950 with ONE Broadcom BCM5708C NIC.

It's set up for network bridging. Only ONE Broadcom NIC is enables and is running vmware bridging protocol.

The virtual WinNT server WILL connect fine to the host computer but it can't ping the gateway. The static IP's are definitely correct.

I'm not sure if the "Network Bridge" in the Win 2003 server's Network connection is used by VMWare. I don't think so. It's disabled. I'm not doing any other bridging or teaming.

I sure would like to hear some clues to help solve this.

Thanks.

You should not have any network bridging to teaming setup o the host server to make this work. What is your static ip for the winNT server? Is it conflicting with the two virutal nic that vmware creates?

I have no other bridging or teaming set up. It's just a simple one Broadcom NIC. The static IP of the Win NT serve is different than the other two virtual NICs. It is on the same subnet as the host. The host networking works fine.

The WinNT network seems to work because I can fully access the host computer and the host computer can access the virtual WinNT. But the bridging does not work.

I tried installing Windows 2003 as a virtual machine and it does exactly the same thing.

The host OS is Windows 2003 server R2.
