I have a photograph that I want to crop the entire background around the person and replace it with another background. How do I go about this? I have Corel Draw Essentials - which is basically Corel Draw 9.
The following steps will help you accomplish what you want to do,within corel draw itself.
1) on the toolbar to the left select the free-hand tool, it's the one located on the fourth icon down, it looks like a pencil (forgive me if my instructions appear to be created for a novice but I don't know the experience one has when I give instructions for proceedures)
2) use this tool to make an outline around the person
3) once you have an outline and it's closed then click "Effects" on the top menu bar
4) then click on lens....you should see a window pop open to the right side of your work area
5) in the window below the circle on a rectangle, there's a box that has a pull down menu...be sure the selection "Brighten" is chosen
6) then in the box for "Rate" enter "0"
7) place a check mark in the box beside "Frozen"
8) now click on "Apply"
9) to remove the outline around the person, right click on the "X" at the top of the color pallette bar located at the right side of your work area.
You have just created a duplicate of the person you outlined in the photo. You can now place this duplicate over any photo or other piece of art, you wish.
