I have recently decided to upgrade my Compaq Presario 5441. I added WIN XP and put in a GeForce MX420 Graphics card (PITA). Now I want to make it faster (I'm not a hardware guy...), I am thinking of upgrading the RAM. After reading the computer manual it says that it takes DIMM 1? Also, I checked how much was already in there and it says 64... So basically I want to know if upgrading the RAM will greatly improve the performance, and what other upgrades I can do. Thanks!

Just what exactly are you trying to do?? As far as memory goes..with WinXP, you'll probably want at a bare minimum, 128mB or ram. 256 would be better, and for about 80 bucks, you can max out your system at 384mB (3 128mB sticks)..yes, your presario should have 3 dimm slots for the memory. Just remove the 64mB stick that is already there. I usually buy memory from crucial.com for the simple fact, when you use there memory configuration..they guarantee that it will work. Never had a problem from them.

There isn't a whole lot more you can do without a new mobo...I assume you have a k6-2/450 processor. Your processor is now the limiting factor.
