Hello
I am running a web site with annoymous access selected with Windows Authentication option selcted. The web sites are hosted on Win 2003 running with IIS 6.
All the sites were running fine before i try to change IUSR default account in the directory security.
I used another user account to log on as anonymous user and removed the default IUSR account form the annoymous user box.
I could not browze my sites after that, so I decided to change back to the default setting with IUSR as annoymous user and windows authentication check box selcted as it was working fine for me.
Now the big problem:
When i try to browse the site through IE or even localy on the server I am asked for user name and password. I dont understand why it is doing this as I have reverted back to anoymous access. Is it that some things have changed in the default IUSR account, when i removed it and readded it again to Directory Security.
I can't seem to solve this issue. Can someone pls help me in this regard. I need to resolve this issue urgently. Any help will be hightly appreciated.
Thanks

As posted in the other forum you posted this problem in, have you tried restarting the "web publishing" service? That should clear up this mess for you.

Restarting IIS won't fix your problem. Add the new user you specified into the IIS_WPG group and make sure it has atleast read permissions on your web root. This should resolve your issue.

Let us know.
