Hi, people

I have a few excel workbooks that have some data in them they show a persons name and days off over a 12 month period these workbooks are updated monthly and display a total year to date days off that person has had off.

I’m trying to make a bar graph showing the total amount of days a person has had off and the change from previous months.

It needs to retrieve the information from different workbooks(and new documents so maybe a popup asking for file name is also needed).

e.g. fred
march - 4 (that's jan - march)
April - 5 (that's jan - April)

bob
march - 0 (that's jan - march)
April - 2 (that's jan - April)

The names are always in the same column but may be in different orders.

I’m not looking for someone to do it, just suggestions on how it could be dome and also on where to look for some tutorials.

thanks for your time.

Hi,

Charts are to be used to tell a story. So what story do you want to tell with your chart?

One thing you might do is use a STACKED COLUMN chart to show days per month for each month in the year...

Chart Data

Fred 1 2 1 1
Bob 0 0 0 2
