Hi there

I am working on an InDesign template created by an outside agency. When placing an RTF file into this InDesign template it converts Arial to Helvetica - which is what we want.

But I was wondering how this is achieved. What have the agency who designed the template done to achieve this?

It seems to be automatically changing the styles created in the RTF document into the preset styles in InDesign. How has this been set up so it is done automatically?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Probably: if you've got styles with identical names in Word and ID, AND all the formatting in the Word file has been applied with those paragraph and character styles, then the formatting settings spec'd in the style definitions in ID override those in the Word file on import.

Thanks AdobeTim, that's really helpful. It's difficult trying to work out how an outside party has created a template when you aren't overly familiar with the package. So thanks again.
