How can I do this, i have a lot of online content, i was going to change the code, to run off a cd-rom, i was thinking of doing D:/ in the coding but that wouldnt be practical because some people may not have the cd-rom on D, is there any setup install programs that will install files to a certain directory to work off of, say i change my coding to C:/Content/File Name, and i have the setup install to that directory and i can just run the exe, to start program, how can i do this?

I don't see how this has anything to do with javascript.

Well i dont know what language the self-extractor is in, so i started here, if u know let me know and i will post appropr.

Search on a popular search site for keywords like "installer". Choose the operating system you want to support (remember that not everyone uses Windows).

If I were trying to do this for MacOS I would start by looking at the current leader in compression/decompression technologies for that particular platform.

These are commercial solutions... you will use some kind of GUI to manage the whole process. You will not be using Javascript to script this process... most likely you will use some pre-defined specialist script unique to each provider.

I have to ask though... why do you need to move the content off the the CD? Why do you need to have absolute path names at all? Do some research on "relative pathnames" with respect to HTML and you will find that you do not need to specify the full path from "root"... you can use a relative path from the location of the current document.

well jeff, i have files that are in this form //Server/C/ which come from the intranet, i want to put them onto a CD, as handout, if i change the //Server/c/ to a d:/ that wouldnt be practical so i was going to try to make a self extractor/installer but never did one before. These files are .html files.
