Hi guys-

I surf the web via my ethernet connection. I also have a VPN that I connect to in order to download my business emails from my company's server.

Often times while surfing the web, the VPN will automatically connect, which is troublesome. It slows down my browsing and is just plain annoying.

I have not been able to find an option to designate my ethernet as the default connection for web browsing.

Any ideas? I use both IE7 and FF2.

Cheers!

Joe

Check the DNS settings, could be that the browser is forcing the VPN to come up cos it wants to talk to the remote end's dns server.

I checked out the DNS settings. I am obtaining and IP address automatically.

In Advanced, there are no DNS server addresses in the boxes and the only boxes checked are the "Append primary and connection specific DNS suffixes" and "Append parent suffixes of the primary DNS suffix".

If you do a ipconfig /all (in a dos prompt) does it show the DNS server as your router or an externial server or perhaps it points to the remote VPN end.

the ipconfig/all shows the DNS server as my router- not an external server or VPN.

damn VPNs...

Thanks again
Joe.
