Help!! Need new Bios urgently

I have a Mbd with I430TX chip set and am trying to install a40GB drive, The Bios currently limits to 8GB and I have tried using EZ-Bios but the system hangs at POST when trying to acknowledge the disk so I really cant get off the ground. I have tried many user options..Various CHS combos and also "Auto" and the jumpers are set correctly on the disk, so my only option is to upgrade the BIOS. It is AWARD 4.51PG and I have tried Unicore without success. Has anyone come across similar prob and Maybe have a later BIOS, which I think needs to be V6. Can any award BIOS V6 work or does it have to match the Mbd exactly....Help!!

The BIOS update must be for the motherboard you have. You'll need the model number usually silkscreen on the board and the brand would certainly help. Go to the maker's site and see if they have an updated BIOS file [and you'll need program to run it with]. Most board maker's customize the BIOS to fit their hardware.

Rather than EZBIOS did you try the drive overlay that should have come with the drive?

The Award 4.51PG BIOS has been used on countless boards and with countless customizations. The line at the bottom of the screen during POST is quite helpful in identification of your specific BIOS.

There is a V6.03 for that chipset out there, but you need to specify the MoBo manufacturer, model, etc, in order for anyone to be able to provide you with a link.
