Hello All,

Please tell me if I can recover my database from this problem!

My database was working fine and I regularly compact it (automatic compact on close).

However, I received this 'programmed' form as an excel file which I tried to open while I had my access database open too.

I got some pop-up messages in excel..first is to enable/disable macros (which I guess is not a problem), then a message saying that there are links in the excel file and whether I want to update them, if I selected 'update' it is not able to update them and gives me another pop-up message.

I tried to look at the code behind excel by opening the visual basic editor using Alt+F11 in excel. It opened the editor but the project was password protected. So, I closed this excel chapter.

Now, I am not able to view any code in my access database which was still open when all this happened.
Whenever I try to see an event procedure or a module i get this error
"Microsoft Access has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

and then access makes a backup and reopens my database but the above problem is still there..Is there any way that I recover from this?

I tried to import some forms from the corrupted database to a backup. Here, I am able to view the code. Do you think this is a good idea to do - and forget about the corrupted database?

Hi
Importing everything into a new database is a frequently recommended solution in these fora. You might like to search for database corruption, which will turn up some other useful suggestions.

I have found decompiling is my ultimate method for fixing problems like this:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE" /decompile "C:\Path_to_MDB\MyDatabase.mdb
