I'm about at my wit's end... and there's not much "wit" left.

My ACS R3 system decided to quit working (anyone repair them?) and I just so happen to have 2 brand new R6 systems sitting here ready to install in 2 other businesses I am involved in.

I had no problem programming and maintaining my R3 system with PC Card VoiceMail.

Here's my quandry...

I have ACS R6 Control Unit and R6 Partner Messaging in a 2 slot carrier. Restore card in slot 1 of Control unit, 2 Port in slot 1 of Messaging. Green lights on both. I'm trying to figure out how to program the darn thing and I can't seem to get anything to cooperate.

My setup needs extension 10,11,12 with Messaging and ext. 17 as FAX.

If anyone has a cheat sheet to programming or a .xmg I'd be forever in your debt.

Unlike the VS mail the ports for the new Message voice mail start from the top. So for hunt group 7 you should assign (in your case) 18,19,ect. ect.

Hi joatman,
Sorry for the late post. Consider getting a five slot carrier for your system. Every two slot carrier system I have installed has failed early due to heat. Your power supply has overheated and burnt out. There is also a power supply upgrade for the ACS R3. Send it to Avaya and have it done. Then flash it to R6 when you get it back. I think Andrew at Drew Telecomm does these also.
So, if you continue with the two slot, you will kill the new R6 at some point unless you can provide a couple inches clearance behind the processor card. Free air flow is needed.

Aaron,

We can professionally repair your ACS processor for you as well as any voicemail or line mod that is defective.. We also provide a full service for upgrading Partner-Legend-Magix processors. Just call me at the office. In fairness to the vendors in this forum, there are many of them that can provide upgrade services also, so check with them too.

Having proper circulation of air around any Partner component - whether its a standalone older processor or PII or ACS modules in a 2 or 5 slot carrier - is definately going to increase the life cycle of your equipment if they have a power supply in them. AT&T-Lucent and even some of the newer Avaya mods have serious design problems with their PS. Always leave the cover off your 5 slot carriers unless you have a dusty or dirty environment (why would you install expensive telecom equipment there anyway???) Setting up a fan to move air and manage telecom room heat is also a solution.

I second what ITPPhoneguy said. I have had nothing but problems with 2 slot carriers. If they dont fry the processor, they dont make good connectivity to the backboard.
