I have an abandoned norstar unit that I might want to put into service at another office.

I have some basic knowledge of doing adds/changes etc on our cs1000, but no exp with norstars. I would hire a nortel tech to install it etc.

My questions are: What exactly do I have here? How many incoming lines can it take? Will it take normal POTS lines? Does it have VM? How many extensions can it support? Can it use m2616 phones? (I have tons of spares for our cs1000)

Thanks for any feedback.

What you've got is a Norstar Modular ICS. The one in your photos is equipped for 8 pots lines and 32 digital extensions. The system in your photos is not equipped with voicemail. You'll need CallPilot 100 or CallPilot 150 for voicemail. M2616 phones won't work. Some of the phone designed for this system are T7316E, T7316, T7208, T7100, M7324, M7310, M7208 and M7100.

Fantastic, that is the exact info I was looking for. Would the callpilot 100/150 be a card that could go in this box or would it be a separate box? Sorry, looked it up, looks like its a separate box.

Thanks!

Those are DS line cards so they do not support Caller Line ID

As for software its the credit sized card inside the NVRAM unit to the right of those bar codes, take a picture of it too or post the info on it....look at it sideways.
Knowing that will depend on what voice mail you can use.

Good call curly, CallPilot's not compatible with pre-4.1 MICS software. I think it's 4.1 if my memory serves me. If it's 4.0 or below, he'll need Startalk Flash or NAM.

probably newer than 4.1 s/w its a NVRAM Rls 2 cartridge dated 2000 almost 2001
i guess the s/w could be older but I would would bet a doughnut it is 4.1 or later.
