to make it worse on boot, soon as it hits windows sometimes i get a lock up with tiny green lines evenly spread along the top of the screen! or PC resets! help me i beg you omg if there is a cure and u help me ur the best!!!!!!!1

I know it's not a great help, but it sounds like the problems are caused by more then just the ADSL. Sounds to me like graphics or overheating. But without pulling cards out inserting each one by one, Maybe even re-installing with only the graphics card, I don't really know.!. For a major problem like yours I would prefer to take a look at the actual PC, run some diagostics, swap out suspected cards etc.

Ah well Good Luck Anyways!

I fought the same battle with a speedstream internal until I upgraded to an external.
I also had horrendous problems during install of the original internal , same symptoms as yours, that finally turned out to be memory. It crashed every install from 95 original to 98SE, every version crashing at a different place, until the memory was replaced. And even after the memory was right , I still faced crashes, hangs, and BSOds. External resolved it to no more that one every month or two, running under 98SE. Ed Fair

Call himem.sys in your config.sys and use the test switch. I've had some success with it. Ed Fair

create a file (if it doesn't already exist) in the root directory named config.sys.
On the first line in that file you would place the instruction

device=c:\windows\himem.sys testmem

If that gives an error, take out the testmem. I can't remember from system to system which ones use that test flag.

I'll crank up a 98 later tonight and see what else I can find that might help. Ed Fair

If it keeps happening can you please post the information that the blue screens report? The VxD error will tell us where in the device driver stack the problem is. If you do that also please post your current network configuration and a IRQ statement from the Device Manager.

Thank you. Your mileage may vary...

irq statement? :S whats that mean lol

the blue screen by memory is a vxd ndis 01 or sumthen ill chek it out
