When selecting a printer the user receives a message indicating that the printer is in use despite the fact that nothing is printing on that printer and no other user has the printer.

It's a networked OKIDATA. The server has been re-booted, the workstation has been rebooted and of course the printer has been turned off and back on.

Error "Printer In Use" or "Printer offline", when printing to a Device Configurator printer in Sage MAS 90 or Sage MAS 200

Entry Type: Informational

Product: Sage MAS 90 ERP, Sage MAS 200 ERP, Sage MAS 200 ERP - SQL Server Edition

Application: Library Master

Version Reported: 3.71

Subject:

Error "Printer In Use" or "Printer offline", when printing to a Device Configurator printer.

Possible Resolution:

Note: Sage Software Customer Support strongly recommends printing directly to the Windows printer rather than through the Device Configurator, especially on newer operating systems such as Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

If Device Configurator must be used, select the printer being used in Device Configurator printer and check the following:

Note: Sage Software Customer Support is not responsible for assisting with testing printers from the operating system. If a printer cannot be printed to successfully from outside Sage MAS 90, contact your local Network Administrator for assistance.

1. If the printer is a "Physical Device", verify that the workstation can print to the physical port (e.g. LPT1) from a command prompt.
2. If the printer is a "Windows Printer" or "Windows Printer Port" pointing to a specific printer, verify that the printer can be selected from that workstation with the exact Device Name. (A Windows Printer set up on one workstation might not be valid for other workstations).
3. One of the fields in Device Configurator may be blank. Verify that all of the fields have been filled in.
