Help - Mailmerge failure with MDE file

I have a mailmerge that works perfectly well with an MDB file named WOW.mdb, but if I try to run it using an MDE (of the same database - WOW.mde), it fails. At first the problem involved another instance of Access being called up. I solved this by using some code I found to set the "AppTitle" property equal to "Microsoft Access". However, now when I run it, it now longer attempts to open a second instance of Access, but it fails and presents the message "WOW.mde is locked for editing by "another user". Click "Notify" to open a read-only copy of the document & receive notification when the document is no longer in use".

I'm using Windows XP. Could XP be the problem? I will much appreciative to anyone who can shed some light on this.

Although it seems as though this thread died bit of a death first time round I thought I'd try and revive it as I'm having exactly the same problem now!
Dobber (or anyone), did you ever find a solution to this problem?

I dont think its anything to do with the OS as I'm using ME.
