I upgraded my 406 v2 to 4.0.(7), and both my DS Expansions are down with this status Link/resource down. I have tried rebooting all units no luck. Please help.

What did you upgrade from? If you upgraded from 3.2 or lower, did you upgrade the DS units correctly? There is an interim 3.2.999 for the DS you need to upgrade to before going to 4.0

Also are you sure the modules are down, and it is not just the case that the firmware on the phones needs upgrading?

Check your version numbers in manager are correct for the DS modules. And they have not been missed off the upgrade.

You need :
A config with such a module programmed ( create one off-line)
IP Office setup with a fixed IP Address and a TFTP address pointing to the PC which holds the binaries.
Thirth party tftp software ( i recommend 3COM, do a google on it )
AVAYA Manager on the PC with the TFTP ip address
Network access from the PC to the IP Office
Serial cable
Strong coffee

Power down the IP Office
Connect the module
Attach the serial cable between the module and PC
Power up IP Office
Open the config with Manager
Terminate Manager and start the TFTP server, set the default path to where the binary files are
Open hyperterminal 3800,8,N,1 and type AT, there should be a response back
Then type AT-X, the unit will reboot and ask IP Office for the binaries, IP Office will dowload the files from the TFTP server.
Drink your strong coffe an pray it will work, often it does not and you must retry a few times.
The reason to use a third party TFTP server is because Manager always says it cannot fine the file "avpots16.bin" while it is definetaly there.
