Hi all,
I just finished installing solaris 8 on a new E250.
After mirroring & patching I installed the binary samba 2.2.2 package.
But...the speed i'm getting various from slow to fast.
Most of the time it's slow, while an ftp session between the same hosts goes lightning-fast.
This is a part of the samba log that looks suspicious
:
[2002/03/30 10:08:26, 5] smbd/files.c:file_free(306)
freed files structure 13963 (4 used)
[2002/03/30 10:08:26, 3] smbd/error.c:error_packet(99)
error string = Is a directory
[2002/03/30 10:08:26, 3] smbd/error.c:error_packet(106)
32 bit error packet at smbd/nttrans.c(841) cmd=162 (SMBntcreateX) eclass=c0000
0ba [Error: Unknown error (186,49152)]
[2002/03/30 10:08:26, 5] lib/util.c:show_msg(280)
size=35
smb_com=0xa2
smb_rcls=186
smb_reh=0
smb_err=49152
smb_flg=136
smb_flg2=16385
All I want to do is have samba listening on this server without interaction with the rest of the network aka wins servers & the like.
The idea is to just "map network drive" with the IP adress & share name.
I tweaked the /dev/tcp settings for the 100Mb ethernet connection, and they get loaded at boot.
Any help greatly appriciated
