Just bought a new Pentium 4 Processor (2.80A GHz, 533MHz FSB system Bus, 1MB L2 Cache, PGA-47 to replace my old celron processor, Ive checked to see if the motherboard supports this processor and it should,(motherboard- D845GVSR intel seabreeze) but when i install it into the motherboard and switch the pc on all i get is, NO SIGNAL displayed on my monitor. Can anyone please help me? i would be eternally grafeful, o and now ive put the celron back in pc is working fine again.

Do the fans in the power supply run? Are there any "beeps" or series of "beeps" when the computer is trying to boot? According to this:

you must have at least BIOS P10 or greater (here's the latest BIOS; P19):

Also take note on the "Supported Processors" page:

" The following board revisions (AA numbers) support these processors:
C45439-301 or later
C45441-301 or later
C44953-300 or later.

See the board revision note, below, for an explanation."

Below:

" Board Revision note: A small bar-coded label, similar to the diagram shown below, can be found on the component side of the desktop board. The numbers following the letters "AA" can help identify the type and version of your desktop board. The AA contains a 6 digit main number, and a 3 digit dash number (the 3 numbers following the "-".

The statement "...or later" refers to the dash number of the AA (the three numbers following the "-"). If this number is greater than the number listed in the table, the board supports the associated processor(s).

If your 6 digit main number is not listed in the table, contact your system manufacturer for processor support information."

Make sure you have the proper cpu and BIOS installed.

Ahh thanks, seems my motherboard isnt compatible because its an earlier revision, C54560-203, (useless motherboard), i should be able to use a 512kbs cache processor according to the compatible processors page, thanks for the help. Olly

For what it's worth...........I don't know how much you invested in the newer cpu, but maybe it would be worth finding a refurbed, used or inexpensive mobo and install the new cpu, add more memory and upgrade? There's always that possibility! Or you could watch at garage sales, flea markets, newspapers etc. for used computers and maybe find one that could use that cpu and then fix it and sell it or keep it and sell your other one. The "celly" or "celery sticks" as we call them are NOT a multi-tasking or intensive-use cpu. If doing more than just word processing, they just lack the power range to provide the amount of speed that is required to do very many things at once (and makes the memory "overwork"). This is why they are poor choices for gaming or very intensive software. Good luck...........

I would get a new motherboard, its just being able to install that into my computer thats the trouble, getting it professionally done is just stupidly expensive and im not sure if i wanna go messing with sumthing that vital to my pc. This motherboard dosent even have an AGP....., u know any good websites that sell motherboards?

Hey thanks for all your help, i live in the UK just so you know, i think im just gonna buy another processor and sell this one on to make some money back.
I'll just ask one more thing, will this processor work on my motherboard, it looks pretty much the most powerful processor that will work on it and thats what im hoping, thanks in advance. Olly

It appears that the cpu you listed will work. I would check with Intel just to make sure. Here is your support:
