I've been asked to import an Excel file into a Microsoft Access database. Some of the fields in the Excel file are formatted as numbers. Without changing any formats in the Excel file, how would I import all the data as text fields into Access?

Thanks for your help!

You may link an access table to the Excel sheet and create a query with either the CStr or Format function to coerce the numeric fields to text.

Hope This Helps, PH.

1. create the table with the structure you want and then insert the records into that table.

2. If you let Access automatically create the table, it will decide based on the first piece of information in each column, add a fake row at the top that contains all text for each column and access will create text fields. then delete the dummy record.
