Hi Everyone,

I have a flat file that has data like:

name address dob source,car_type; car_year;warranty;61261: Mar 2 00:05:32: %CALLTRKR-6-CALL_RECORD: ct_hndl=8334, service=PPP, origin=Answer, category=Modem, DS0 slot/port/ds1/chan=0/0/0/13, called=2002, calling=(n/a), resource slot/port=1/21, userid=twelch, ip=10.1.6.122, mask=0.0.0.0, account id=8469, setup=03/01/2004 21:31:16, conn=0.12, phys=16.96, service=54.65, authen=54.65, init-rx/tx b-rate=19200/42666
The first few records are tab delimited, followed by comma , semi colon etc.

My question: How do I export this flat file into qsl table using DTS?

Thanks

If you have access to a Unix box, you can ftp the file to unix and use unix tr (translate) or sed (stream editor) function to replace the alternate delimiters with whichever one you want to standardize upon. Alternatively, many of the unix utilities have been migrated to the Windows environment.
Such as or There are also free and shareware versions.

Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side because there is more manure there - original.

The delimiter must be consistent. So, you must convert the delimiters to a single value, as johherman states.

One question: if the data you represent is accurate, you may be able to tell DTS the delimiter is a space. You would end up with the actual delimiters in the data, but at least you could get the data loaded.

Hope that helps.
