Hi, does anyone know how to import some clips from a dvd drive into Adobe Premiere? also, how i can copy a movie from DVD drive to my PC's hard disk to use it in Adobe Premiere?
Thanks.

PLEASE find an answer to this question. You would think it such a basic and obvious requirement, yet I've been seeking an answer for months........please please please...

well copying from dVD is against the law....

But you need to rip the tracks from the dvd first, change them to a format that can be used by premiered then import those.

But the DVD is MY OWN material, so its surely not against the law.

How do I change the .vob format to one that premiere will read? I've tried changing the file extention to .mpg but only the audion file opens.

Again, you need to "rip" the vob file and then use a converter to change the resulting file into a format you can use in Premiere. Simpling chaning the file extension doesnt mean it becomes that particular file format.

I tried the filename extension on the advice of another forum, and to a point it worked, at least Premiere was able to import the audio.

I understand that I have to rip the .vob file, I've done that, its the conversion to .avi (?) mpeg2(?) thats the question. What do I use for that. DVD2AVI seems to convert to NTSC .avi, and Flaskmpeg reduces the pixel size of the image.....

Any other suggestions?

You have to play around. Again, DVD ripping will never be the same quality as your original.
