I did a document where the background is brown with the opacity of 30. Then, I stuck in some pictures and put some drop shadows on them at the default size and opacity. Unfortunately, when I print out the document, it prints a white square around the object with some of the drop shadow visible. Is there anyway to get rid of that white square? it's barely noteable on screen, but when you print it..that's a different story.

Are you making a PDF before printing it or printing straight from InDesign?

I'm printing it to pdf first (using Acrobat 6 pdf settings) and then printing to paper. perhaps this printer isn't postscript level 3...any way to change that?

no, you have to upgrade the firmware of the printer, depending on what sort of printer are using.
You also have to use "High Quality" (which is acrobat 6 compatable) setting for the distiller and not "Print Quality" (which has the defult of acrobat4 compatability)
