I have ie 6.0 sp1 with WinXP Home. For some reason, ie now displays a large font on all pages and has problems with rollover menus and pop-up boxes(like tek-tip's). The view menu/ text size or encoding does not change the font issue.

The pages are basically unreadable. I can't even do a search on MS knowledgebase because none of the page works.

I've tried to re-install IE or the patch, but it just tells me that my version is too new. I also have MSN Explorer installed, and someone told me there are issues with that program, but removing it didn't help either.

Any ideas? I hate to do a system restore.

Have you tried Start/Control Panel/Add_Remove Programs/Internet Explorer 6.0 and then choose the repair option? If so then I came across this response while searching Microsofts groups, maybe it can help......
If IE-View-Text Size does not stick....

---solution 1
If you are using Eudora 4.2 or greater then use Tools-Options-Viewing
Mail and uncheck "Use Microsoft's viewer"
It is Eudora that is setting the IE text size and unchecking that
option will stop it.

The key that Eudora 4.x will change is this:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\International\Scripts\3]
"IEFontSize"=hex:02,00,00,00

---solution 2
In Outlook 2000 go to Tools/Options/Mail Format/Fonts/International
Fonts, and for each font
change the "Font Size" entry to your desired size.

Internet Explorer is not under add/remove programs. It is under Windows Components, and there is no repair option.

This is not just a matter of the font settings sticking. The entire browser program is not working. Pop-Up menus do not work, and java-type menu bars blend into the background. The font size is just the most noticeable issue.

microsoft internet explorer IS under add/remove programs and it DOES let you repair it! I did it yesterday on XP and help my customers do it all the time. when you go to uninstall it you will get a pop-up box that will ask you to uninstall it, repair it, or restore to previous windows configuration.

if everyone knew that you could do this with IE there would be alot less probs.!!
