Hello, I recently purchased a laptop with integrated WiFi as well as a D-Link router. The problem is that dispite the fact that I followed the instructions to the book, the router just is not being detected by my computer.

Normally when you goto: START>RUN>cmd
and type in: ipconfig
you receive the following output:
Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection [number]:
Connection...
IP...
Subnet..
etc...

but when I input that, all I get is:
Media State..... : Cable Disconnected

I have checked that the cables are all snug and properly connected, but that doesn't seem to fix anything. Another strage thing is that even now when I am connected to the internet through my ethernet card, when I type in the forementioned command I still receive the same output of 'Cable Disconnected'!

I am at a complete lost as to what is going on. I hope someone who has had experience with this dilema before, or know what is wrong can lend a helping hand.

Thank you very much for your time!

The last one to ask me to answer this question was my wife, not long ago.

There is a button on the laptop to turn on the wireless adapter, and you have to push it.

From there the rest was fairly easy.

To expand a bit..

type IPCONFIG /ALL and you should see entries for both your wired LAN connection and wireless adaptor as well.

If not then your wireless is disabled somewhere.
