I have an ecs desknote a901 laptop. I am still happy with this computer after 3 years but its 4 usb ports are the older type 1.1 and I need to somehow upgrade one of these ports to type 2 for an external device that will only operate on usb 2.0.
Problem is laptop does not have a pci card slot. Can anyone please tell me how I would go about upgrading, adapting, or anything (the easier/cheaper the better) I could do that would make it possible for me to use the external device with is notebook?

If it helps the link to the tech specs for the laptop is...

And the link to the tech specs for the external device is...

And the link to the manual for the external device is...

THANK YOU sooooooo much for any advice anyone can give me!
I really appreciate it!

after looking through the manual, you cannot upgrade to USB 2.0 as there are no external methods for doing so. Had this been a true laptop and not a desktop shaped like a laptop you could of used the PCMCIA slot but, there are none on a desktop. Therefore your system is stuck with USB 1.1.

Thanks for the answer ...if there was an external method to upgrade was exactly what I wanted to know.
Time for a new one anyway!
Thanks
