Hi,

I am new to Btrieve -
I am having a problem trying to get Crystal XI to read a Btrieve database. How do I get to the data?

Thanks so much,
muffntuf

What have you gotten so far?
To use Crystal, you have two choices (at least you did, not sure about XI): Btrieve and ODBC.
For both methods you'll need DDFs and a 32 bit version of Btrieve.
If you've got the DDFs and the 32 bit version of Btrieve (look for WBTRV32.DLL) and an ODBC driver, you can create an ODBC DSN and use that from Crystal. If you don't have ODBC (not all Btrieve 6.15 versions came with it), I would suggest trying the Btrieve drivers.
If you're getting errors, post them.

Thank you for confirmation on research I had dug up. I need the ddf files created.

If you must create your DDF files you can take a look at BtSearch32 at It will help you analyze the data structure and build the DDF files.
