I am new at apache but so far I love the way it performs and want to make a switch from iis to apache but dont know how to configure apache to create multiple sites and if I have a site in a seperate partition how to point it to that directory. basicly I need a step by step on configuring and creating a new site. I know that it would be a virtualhost sharing the same ip I have 5 sites that I currently host on iis but want to make them work on apache.

If someone can exsplain in dummy terms I will learn and run with it please. Thank you so much for those of you that will assist me in my new server change and knowledge..

Best Regards
Cyber

You may have already seen this, but
would be the best place to read about virtual hosts. You control the root directory of a web site by adding a line like:

DocumentRoot D:\WebSite

to the config file, which is usually called "httpd.conf". I haven't used Apache on windows but I'm assuming the config file is probably the same as it is on other platforms. Any commands for a specific site need to be inside that site's VirtualHost section in the config file. I haven't actually used virtual hosts yet, so I can't comment on them from personal experience. You can learn a fair amount about the config file just by reading through it.
The biggest adjustment you have to make in switching to Apache is that it was designed for text-based servers so you have to get used to working with a text config file rather than a GUI. It's possible that some GUIs exist for the windows version though.

Thank you I got it working and will post what I found out for others to use if need to.. I thank you for your collaberation..
