Hi everyone, Im running Win2k Server and think my primary harddrive is about to fail.

I have a new harddrive ready to replace it but how do I transfer across all system from all c:\ to new c:\ ??

Please help!!

Thanks everyone.

I would close down the Win-2K machine, move both hard drives to another machine and copy all of the files over from the old drive to the new one on that and give it a try.

If it does not work, you have only lost time!

I was thinking about doing this...

However the server Puts on Digital Disk Signatures so it will knnow that this is no longer the original c drive, therefore on boot up, it will assign a differebnt drive letter... L: in my case and therefore wont boot up...

Do any of the disc cloning tools work??

Cheers

absolutely. I've done this with GHOST. You can create a boot floppy that uses DHCP to find your GHOST "server". Then do a dump of your entire hard disk to file, which can be restored easily to any disk.

I simply have to aggree with Brontosaurus.....

Ghost is your very best option. Hope this Helps

Use NT Backup, Backup every thing on the failing drive, remove the failing drive, Install the new drive, setup the OS, Restore from backup.
