help...hard drive not "holding" operating system...

tried re-installing, but there's always something wrong. at one point i had a clean install, no flaws, etc...but i had to re-install due to virus.

how do you know when the hard drive is going bad?

this comp is about 4 years old.

You could test the drive with the manu. software. have you tried different memory? A lot of times the memory is the problem,not the hard drive.
 
what is the manual software? should i try removing one memory slot?

any help is appreciated.

go to drive manufacturer's site and download their diagnostic utility.
