Hi all

Help!!!! does spring to mind on this one. I've done a little bit of WSS. My esteemed boss has now volunteered me for a client project deploying SPS 2003 in a complex environment.

I've got a few weeks to bone up but my immediate grief is a kick off meeting:

Now I'm assuming what I get with SPS is
1. A more powerful search feature
What will it search - email? pdf? zips?

2. email integration?? Any links?

3. A wider variety of web parts - which ones are the must haves?

4. How does uploading work - is there a webpart which will upload everything in a folder?

5. Will it work happily with sql 2005 and 2003 R2? What service packs do I need?

Eg. Load WSS
load sp2
load SPS 2003
load SPS sp1
Correct?

Sorry for all the Qs - bit of an emergency :(

deploying 2003? why not tell them it'd be a much wiser investment to start cranking out 2007. that should give you reason to get a couple weeks to research the new product. i'd say it's leaps and bounds better than 2003.

Hello,

I agree with wolvie, go for the SharePoint Server 2007! The improvements over SPS 2003 are HUGE!

I am running SharePoint Server 2007 Beta 2 with Win2003 R2 and SQL 2005 and it is running very good. Also if you want to do customizations to the look and feel it is soooo much easier than in SPS 2003.

Cheers,
Thomas
