Help getting socket:10047 error

I reinstalled ME OS on my laptop everything seems to be OK now, exept I'm not able to go out to the internet via my cable modem. I am able to ping up to my Gateway.
Do I need to download this Winsock DLL ?
Where can I get it?
Can anyone Help with this issue ??

Three possible causes:

Multiple wsock32.dll files
The wsock32.dll file is missing or has been damaged
The wsock32.dll file has been replaced by a third-party dialer.

1.From the Start menu, click search, Find, and choose Files or Folders.
2.In the Named field, type wsock32.dll.
3.Click the Find Now button.
4.Choose any wsock32.dll not in the c:\windows\system directory from the Name list.
5.From the File menu, choose Rename.
6.In the Name box, type wsock32.old.
7.Close the Find window.
8.From the Start menu, choose Shut Down.
9.Select Restart.
10.Click the OK button to restart computer

I did renamed the extra WSOCK32.DLL restarted the machine but still not able to go out to the net
I stiil do ping the gateway but nothing beyond that point

Can I replace the wsock32.dll file presentlybin my system with one from my other 98 machine ...HOW ??

I am reinstalling ME one more time..
Any other ideas why I'm not going out to the Net ??

all the other machines on my nework work fine

Reinstall cable modem software and IP set software.

Hey do appreciate your input, I did fix the problem about an hour ago with the help of another thread on this site
check it out...
A progrm called WinsockFix.Zip did the trick only 137 Kbites long after unziping it...

Help!! No more internet connection!!
