Why the heck doesn't AS bundle html help with their distro for *nix?
I'm stuck with P.Raines Pocket ref. I am getting tired of writing string replace before remembering it exists.
Can somebody help with this or what? Is there comprehensive
browser viewable help for tcl in *nix without rolling it yourself?
 
As a matter of fact, there is an easy way to grab an HTML version of all the Tcl/Tk reference pages. The Tcl Developer Xchange ( has online versions for the past several releases, as well gzip'ed tar file bundles of all the HTML reference pages. In addition to the core Tcl/Tk pages, reference pages for several other extensions are available, too.

As for why ActiveState doesn't bundle them with their ActiveTcl distribution, I don't know. It think it's just habit/tradition that *nix docs are always distributed as man pages. You could always requrest that they include them with ActiveTcl and see what they say. - Ken Jones, President
