Hi All

Can anyone explain to me why my help files would disappear in some of my GM 6.0 installations on my network? When I go to the Help in the drop down and choose topics, I get a blank wondow on the right hand side with the standard IE error that it cannot find the web page. Very bizarre but I'm sure it's something simple....right? :))

TIA

This is caused by Windows update #KB896358, an HTML fix, that was released mid-June. This Windows update makes Microsoft think that running a .chm (Compiled HTML File) is a security risk over a network. There are several ways to correct this. On each effected workstation, you can remove the update by going thru windows add/remove programs or you can modify a key in the Registry as described below.

Copy the following into notepad, save as a .reg file and then double-click on it to add it to the registry of each machine.

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\HHRestrictions]
"MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000001
"EnableFrameNavigationInSafeMode"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions]
"MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000001

Hope this helps

Great! Thanks!!

By the way...any advice on performing a local install of Goldmine? I tried to setup a laptop here and I think I messed up. Had BDE errors right off the start and when I resolved this, it kept looking for DBF files that were network copies. Should I have unplugged my network prior to installing?

Thanks again!

are you using the sync after the install on the laptop????

I have seen people have 2 version of goldmine on their laptop, a link to the server and then a link to the local files...

you will need to point the bde to the local copy of the idapi32.dll file, in order to re-point this, you would either have to disconnect the mapped drive, or remove the network cable, either should ask you to re-find the file.

what version of goldmine are you using. Do yo have dbase files on your server or is it sql??

We will run a local and network copy on our laptops. We use 6.0 with DBF files. I'm going to run the installation with an undocked machine and try again.

Thanks again! I'll check back.
