Heres the deal: We are in the process of migrating our users to WinXP from Win98. We have deployed about 100 XP machines. Out of those 100, 40 or so where done this past weekend. Some are not showing up as discovered and some are even showing up as installed clients, My thoughts are that the clients are not showing because there is perhaps an overload(???). That was one of the messages I got from SMS at one point. Something about too many DDR's coming in at the same time. Then my SQL server took a dive, which I was able to get going again. Any hints as to what I should do when we do a mass deploy???

Oh, by the way, I have network & heartbeat discovery methods turned on as well as windows NT remote client installation. I only want NT workstations loading the client since we're about to get rid of all Win98 machines. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I hope the server stays afloat, however you may want to give it a few more hours being that a normal discovery takes up to 48 hours.

I say this because you mentioned this weekend, so if you were installing the clients on a Saturday it may be fair to
look at Monday evening Tuesday morn.

I've seen this take a little longer on some Lans with bandwidth issues.

Let me know what happens...

If all else fails you may need to un and re-install the agent on the client desktops. ;(
